COURSE DESCRIPTION

The LWL 994H course is designed to discuss operation of the CAT 3516 engine, Power-shift transmission, Operators station, VIMS 3G, Monitoring system, Electro-hydraulic system, LS hydraulic steering system, and braking systems.

PREREQUISITES

CLC/SIS/ET, S1 Hydraulics, S2 Engines, S3 Powertrain, S4 Electrical, MEC. Students must provide their own PPE, Safety glasses, Steel toe footwear, hart hats, long sleeves, long pants, gloves, and reflective stripes.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

After completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

  • Locate and identify all major 994H machine components
  • Locate and identify all machine service points
  • Locate and identify all major 3516 engine components
  • Trace the flow of Fuel, Air/Exhaust, oil, and coolant of the engine
  • Identify and explain the function of the powertrain system
  • Trace the flow of oil, and power-flow through the powertrain system
  • Identify and explain the function of the Electro-Hydraulic system
  • Trace the flow of oil through the Hydraulic system
  • Trace the flow of oil and explain operation of the LS steering system
  • Trace the flow of oil through the Hydraulic system
  • Trace the flow of oil and explain the braking system
  • Operate the different screens in the CAT monitoring system
  • Apply and troubleshoot what was learned in the classroom to the machine shop exercises
